Roberta Maxwell Obituary

Roberta A. (Velikan) Maxwell, 85, of Moore Township, formerly of Piscataway, NJ, quietly passed away at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Muhlenberg on Tuesday, September 19, 2023.  She was the loving wife of James M. Maxwell to whom she was married 61 years.  Born in Perth Amboy, NJ, Roberta was a daughter ofthe late Alexander and Rose (Brilla) Velikan.  She graduated in 1956 from Highland Park High School.  For more than 20 years, Roberta was employed at Johnson & Johnson where she worked in various divisions of the company as a secretary.  She later was employed at Merck before retiring in 1998. Roberta enjoyed knitting in her spare time, and she devoted many hours to making shawls for cancer patients.  She loved socializing with her friends and always appreciated a good glass of pinotnoir.  Throughout the years, Roberta and James traveled the United States and world extensively, visiting all 50 states and all but two continents with Antarctica being among her favorite destinations.      

Survivors: In addition to her loving husband, James, she is survived by her children, Michael Maxwell and fiancée, Michelle Ricalde, of Phillipsburg, NJ, and Patricia Green and husband, Terry, of Buckingham, PA; grandchildren, Patrick and Molly Maxwell; alongwith several nieces and nephews.  

Services: Private, and at the convenience of the family.  There will be no calling hours.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the GEORGE G. BENSING FUNERAL HOME, LLC, 2165 Community Drive, Route 946, in the Village of Moorestown – Bath, PA 18014.

Contributions: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be offered to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 111 Littleton Road #221, Parsippany, NJ 07054.
