Gerald E. "Jerry" Snyder

Gerald E. “Jerry” Snyder, 91, of Northampton, formerly of Catasauqua, passed away unexpectedly after being stricken at home on early Tuesday morning, April 09, 2024.  He was the husband of Peggy A. (Capwell) Snyder to whom he was married 41 years. 

Born in North Catasauqua, Jerry was a son of the late Stewart W. Sr. and Esther A. (Kline) Snyder.  He honorably served in the United States Army during the Korean War.  For 30 years, Jerry was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 773 – Allentown and employed at Morris Black & Sons, Inc., retiring in 1996.  He was also a member and former president of Darktown Fire Company in Hokendauqua, as well as a life-member of Crosskeys Social Club in Allentown and a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bath.  Always the life of the party, Jerry was a talented entertainer and comedian known for his singing and portrayal of Al Jolson, which will be greatly missed.    

Survivors: In addition to his loving wife, Peggy, he is survived by a son, William M. “Bill” Snyder, Sr. and wife, Sherry, of Citrus Springs, Florida; a daughter, Jody A. Snyder of Northampton; two grandchildren, William M. “Will” Snyder, Jr. and wife, Kimberly, of Northampton, and Christina Wellington of Beverly Hills, Florida; 10 great-grandchildren, Cole, Aden, Evan, Addyson, Sadey, Miley, Jaxon, Everly, Ethan, and Aiden; along with nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Christy Snyder-Padula Smith, in 2022; two brothers, Ronald and Stewart “Sonny” Snyder, Jr.; and a sister, Joan “Tootie” Marth.

Services: Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Memorial Gathering to celebrate Jerry’s life on Sunday, April 21, 2024, from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. with a brief Prayer Service at 1:00 P.M. in the GEORGE G. BENSING FUNERAL HOME, LLC, 2165 Community Drive, Route 946, in the Village of Moorestown – Bath, PA 18014 .  Burial will be private.
