George A. Wardenski, 75, of Allentown, died on Monday, May 8, 2023, at Lehigh Valley Hospice. Born at Sacred Heart Hospital, he was the son of Sigmund S. and Mary (Glavas) Wardenski. George was a 1965 graduate of Central Catholic High School. After graduation he attended the University of Wisconsin at La Crosse.
At the young age of 14 in 1962, George won the Young Columbus newspaper subscription contest sponsored by the Call-Chronicle and Parade magazine. As a result, he earned a remarkable prize: a 12-day vacation in Spain, which he won for obtaining 1,200 new subscriptions to the Sunday Call-Chronicle, Morning Call, and the Evening Chronicle. George's impressive achievement at such a young age is a testament to his determination and hard work.
