Duane L. Hyrowich

Duane L. Hyrowich, 53, of Plainfield Township, suddenly passed away on Monday evening, February 12, 2024, at The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, NJ.

Born in Allentown, he was the son of Jean A. (Sterner) Serfass of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and the late Gary L. Hyrowich, and stepson of the late Jeffrey Serfass.

Duane was a 1988 graduate of Pen Argyl High School and the University of Pittsburgh where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Mechanic Engineering.  Currently employed as a distribution manager at Vigon International in Stroudsburg, he previously worked at Crayola, Nestle, and J.T. Baker, serving in various capacities.  For many years, Duane proudly and unselfishly devoted himself to volunteering many hours of service with Make-A-Wish Foundation.  Full of life, he was an adventurist who eagerly pursued new activities to experience and share with his son, Austin, including the annual Lehigh Valley Polar Plunge to support Special Olympics.  Characterized as an old soul in a young body, Duane enjoyed the sounds of 80s music, was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan, and a car enthusiast who had an insatiable desire for collecting Corvettes.  His top priority, however, was spending as much time as possible with his son and creating memories of love that will last a lifetime.

Survivors: In addition to Duane’s loving mother, Jean, he leaves behind the love of his life, son, Austin J. Hyrowich; two aunts, Kay Edwards of Apex, North Carolina, and Nancy Meck and husband, Allen, of Macungie; cousins; and Waverly, his loyal pet rescue dog.

Services: A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, February 19, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. in the GEORGE G. BENSING FUNERAL HOME, LLC, 2165 Community Drive, Route 946, in the Village of Moorestown – Bath, PA 18014.  Friends and relatives are invited to call on Monday morning from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service.  Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Memorial Park Cemetery, Allentown.
