Violet L. Gerhat, 95, of Upper Nazareth Twp., passed away Saturday, October 21, 2023 at Gracedale Nursing Home. Upper Nazareth Twp. Violet was born in Budapest, Hungary on April 13, 1928 to the late Zigmond and Margit (Mikas) Libik.

Violet lived through World War II in Budapest.  She was one of the roughly 200,000 Hungarians who escaped Hungary and sought political refuge after the Soviet/Russian invasion of 1956 during which an estimated 2,500 Hungarians were killed.  Upon arriving in the United States, Violet had three children before getting a divorce and becoming a hardworking, single mother.  She worked as an electronics assembler at the former Western Electric/ AT&T for 25 years before retiring.  Later in life, she enjoyed spending time and vacations with her grandchildren and built herself her dream home.

Violet is survived by her children: Violet Gerhat of Wisconsin, Stephen Gerhat and his wife Brenda and their children Leslie, Stephanie & Brandon of Pennsylvania and George Gerhat and his wife Laurel and their children Jeff, Greg & Alison of North Carolina.  Violet is predeceased by two grandchildren; Jake and Jen children of Violet Gerhat of Wisconsin and a brother: George Libik.
