It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Vaughn K. Lewis, of Wind Gap, who departed from this life on May 13, 2026 at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Hecktown Oaks. He was 87 years old. Vaughn was married to Anna May (Klump) Lewis for 52 wonderful years until her passing in 2020.
Born on October 16, 1938, in Tatamy, Vaughn was the son of the late Thomas C., Sr. and Ethelyn M. (Bush) Lewis.
Vaughn dedicated over 27 years of his life to working as a machine operator and welder at Rick Wel Co. in Pen Argyl, later continuing his career at Nazareth Box Co. until his retirement. He was a proud member of the Pipe Fitters Union #420 in Philadelphia, displaying both professionalism and passion in his work.
In life, Vaughn found joy and purpose in his community and family. A devoted member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, he actively participated in church events and played softball for Trinity Lutheran Church in Wind Gap. For many years, he volunteered at the Bangor Senior Center, where he selflessly gave his time to uplift and connect with others. Vaughn's warmth and kindness left a lasting impact on those he encountered, earning him the affection of many.
Above all, Vaughn cherished his role as the patriarch of his family and took immense pride in his grandson and great-granddaughter. Vaughn's love for his family knew no bounds; they adored him deeply and will forever hold him in their hearts.
Vaughn is survived by his daughter, Connie E. Hendershot and her husband James, Jr. of Wind Gap, grandson Jonah Hendershot and his wife Anastasia, great-granddaughters Persephone Hendershot, and an additional great-grandchild expected soon. He also leaves behind his dear sisters, Beverly Gostoni of Bushkill Township, and Ethelyn Lilly and her husband George of Easton. He held a special place in his heart for his nephew, Chuck Bender, Jr., as well as many other nieces, nephews, and extended family who cherished him deeply. He was preceded in death by his siblings: Thomas C. Lewis, Jr., Virginia Weldy, Gloria Lewis, Linda Fehnel, Robert Lewis, and Joy Shellenberger.
Services and Interment for Vaughn will take place privately at the convenience of the family at Plainfield Cemetery offering his family a moment to honor his memory with the love and respect he so truly deserves. Arrangements and cremation are under the care and direction of the George G. Bensing Funeral Home, Inc. Online expressions of sympathy may be recorded at: bensingfuneralhome.net.

Vaughn K. Lewis was a steadfast presence in the lives he touched. His legacy of compassion, dedication, and love will continue to resonate through all who knew him. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
