Stanley P. Wentzell, 87, of Bushkill Twp., passed away peacefully while surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, September 10, 2026 at his residence. He was the beloved husband of the late Eleanor Wentzell to whom he was married to for 58 years before her passing in 2021. Born in Upper Nazareth Township, Stanley was a son of the late Paul and Emma Wentzell (Schoenenberger).

Stanley was perhaps best known through his longtime work and passion, Stanley P. Wentzell Excavating, Fuel Delivery & Furnace Service. More than simply a business, it was an important part of his life and identity. He took great pride in his work, serving countless customers throughout the area over the years and building lasting relationships along the way. Whether operating equipment, making a fuel delivery, or answering a call for furnace service, Stanley was happiest when he was working, helping others, and doing what he knew best. His dedication to the business and the people he served became a lasting part of how so many in the community knew and will remember him.

He was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church and a Life Member of the Wind Gap American Legion, where he also served as Secretary, along with maintaining involvement with other American Legion posts throughout the area. A proud veteran, he served our country faithfully in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era.

Stanley enjoyed keeping up with friends and neighbors and could often be found at some of his favorite local gathering places, including Point Phillips and East Lawn, where he enjoyed good conversation and catching up on all the latest local news. He also had a few favorite stops in Bradford County near his cabin, where familiar faces and conversation were always part of the experience.

His cabin in Bradford County was truly his happy place - "upcountry," as his late wife affectionately called it. He treasured the time spent there with family, enjoying the outdoors, hunting, and simply being at a place that meant so much to him.

Stanley will be lovingly remembered by his three daughters: Cheryl Wentzell of Moscow, PA, Stacey Wentzell, of Bushkill Twp., PA and Denise Shelly (Patrick) of Hamlin, PA; grandchildren: Nathan and his wife, Meagan, Taylor and her fiance, Tim, Morganne and her husband, Thomas, Ryan, Joshua, Gabrielle and Isaiah; a great-granddaughter: Karsyn Rose; brothers: Alvin Wentzell and wife, Barbara, of Saylorsburg, and Linfort Wentzell of Berlinsville; sisters: Helen Fox and husband, Ronald, of Tatamy, and Sandra Poloni and husband, Patrick, of Pen Argyl; Stanley is predeaceased by siblings: Dorothy Schreck, Carol Reid and Barry Wentzell

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026, at 11:00 AM in St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church - 1422 Church Road - Pen Argyl, PA 18072. Friends and Relatives are invited to a viewing and visitation with family on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8 p.m. in the GEORGE G. BENSING FUNERAL HOME, INC. 2165 Community Drive - Bath PA 18014 and at Church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. Interment with military honors will follow at Plainfield Cemetery.
