Shirley L. Buskirk, of Stockertown, passed peacefully on Tuesday, August 18, 2026 at Renaissance Senior Homes - Forks. She was 94 years old. She was the loving wife to Richard C. Buskirk, Sr. for 49 years before his passing in 1999
Born on November 23, 1931 in Loganton, PA, she was the daughter of the late George H. and Minnie B (Mark) Laubach.
Shirley dedicated herself to a life of caring and compassion, most notably as a devoted Nurses Aid at Gracedale Nursing Home for over 20 years. She was also a devoted member of Grace Lutheran Church in Belfast, her faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her through both joyful and challenging times. Shirley cherished her church family deeply and will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.
An avid gardener, Shirley had a special love for birds and flowers, finding solace and joy in the beauty of nature. She expressed her creativity through ceramics for a large portion of her life, dedicating time each week to craft pieces that reflected her passion for art.
Shirley is survived by her children, Richard C. Jr. of Nazareth, Karen L. Knight, and her husband James of Cincinnati, OH, Larry L. Buskirk, and his companion Alice of Nazareth, Stanley W. Buskirk, and his wife Julie of Bushkill Twp.; eight grandchildren and three step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Shirley was predeceased by her children, Steven Buskirk and Lori Snyder; sisters, Margaret and Sarah.
A memorial service will take place in the near future at Grace Lutheran Church in Belfast, 5907 Sullivan Trail, Nazareth, PA 18064 with a burial following at Belfast Union Cemetery.
