Sherwood O. Kindred, 98, a long time resident of Bethlehem, who retired to Hemlock Farms in Lord's Valley, quietly passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at The Vero at Bethlehem in Hanover Township. He was the beloved husband of the late Elaine I. (Feist) Kindred with whom he shared 75 years of marriage before her passing in 2023.

Born in Bath, Sherwood was a son of the late Osborne and Mabel R. (Faulstick) Kindred, and was a graduate of Bethlehem Vo-Tech, class of 1946. For nearly three decades, he enjoyed a successful career with PPL Electric prior to retiring as a residential sales representative. Beyond his professional career, Sherwood found calm and relaxation in the outdoors while hunting and fishing throughout the years. He also enjoyed playing cards as well as playing the boombas, and he was a proud member of the Happy Boombadeers.

He was a member of College Hill Moravian Church and a former member of The Church at Hemlock Farms.

Sherwood will be dearly missed by his children, Sherwood L. Kindred and wife, Petrina, of Danielsville, John D. Kindred and wife, Deborah, of Point Phillips, and Beverly Nehilla and husband, Stephen, of Bethlehem; grandchildren, Taryn Kindred Walheim, Barrett Nehilla, Tiffany Kindred Korhut, Leah Apgar, and Aileen Bouton; great-grandchildren, Reese, Lucas, Gabriella, Faith, and Wyatt; along with many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Elaine, he was predeceased by five brothers, William, Stuart, Wallace and Robert Kindred, and Oscar Kibler; as well as four sisters, Mary C. Ruloff, Louise N. Pensenbeck, Anna M. Stem, and Lorraine J. Groman.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at College Hill Moravian Church, 72 W. Laurel Street, Bethlehem, PA 18018. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a visitation on Tuesday morning from 10:30 AM until the time of the service. Interment will follow at Bethlehem Memorial Park Cemetery.
