Ruthmary Helene Male of Nazareth died peacefully at the age of 89. She was the daughter of the late John Sr. and Alma (Kennedy) Gilbert. She is survived by her five sons; James Jr., Thomas, Gary, Michael and Robert. Her legacy continues with 13 grandchildren; Jennifer, Courtney and Cory; Mandi and Nichlas; Nolan and Tyler; Jeanette, Rebecca, Theresa and Valerie; Christian and Angelise; along with numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was step-gram to Amanda, Kasey and Collin. She was predeceased by her devoted husband James Sr. and her siblings, Jean Olesen, John Jr., Robert and Wayne Gilbert.

Ruthmary graduated from Nazareth High School in 1953. In addition to raising five boys and caring for her entire family, her passion had always been in helping others. She was active in many community organizations such as; Captain of the Nazareth Ambulance Corps, where she was voted Pennsylvania's first EMT Of The Year for 1985, An active duty member of the Medic 9 Paramedic Unit, serving as a driver and paramedic assistant, Emergency Management Director for Nazareth, Member and Worthy Matron of The Order of The Eastern Star, Member of the Board of Directors for the Nazareth YMCA, Vice president of the Lioness Club of Nazareth, Active in the Women's Organizations of St. John's Lutheran Church, Nazareth, A consumer board member of the Health Systems Council of Eastern Pennsylvania and a member of the diagnostic radiology subcommittee of the Health Systems Council. She served on the Youth Aid Panel, set up to divert first offenders of minor crimes from the juvenile court system. Ruthmary donated many hours to service organizations, teaching and promoting first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. She also did volunteer work at Allentown Osteopathic Hospital, The 4-H Club and The Boys Scouts. She was a registered scouter for many years, serving as Den Mother and Pack Leader.
