Ronald H. Horst, a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on May 27, 2026, at the St. Luke's Hospice House in Bethlehem. He was the husband of Linda K. (Trimble) Horst, for an incredible 57 years. Together, they built a strong and loving family.
Born on February 1, 1949, in East Stroudsburg, Ron was the son of the late William and Mildred (Steidel) Horst.
A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Ron served honorably during the Vietnam War. After his service, he began his career at Keystone Cement, where he dedicated 28 years of his life, working his way up to the position of Vice President of Operations. His journey began as a laborer alongside his father and showcased his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence.
In high school, Ron excelled as a three-sport athlete, competing in football, baseball, and wrestling at Pocono Mountain High School, Class of '67. His competitive spirit followed him into adulthood, where he enjoyed camping, fishing, and swimming in lakes and rivers, never deterred by the chill of the water. He also cherished trips to Texas to visit Linda's family and sharing joyful moments bowling with friends and family.
Along with his wife Linda, Ron is survived by their son Jason and his wife Julie of Lehighton, their daughter Cheryl Kerchner and her husband Chris of Wind Gap, and their cherished grandchildren: William Kerchner, Austin Horst, and Ethan Horst. Ron is also survived by his brother William Horst and his wife Josephine, his brother-in-law John Calvert, as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will remember him fondly. He was predeceased by his sister, Judith Lessig.
Ron's family will celebrate his life with private services and interment at their convenience, ensuring an intimate farewell. Arrangements and cremation are under the care and direction of the George G. Bensing Funeral Home, Inc.
In this time of remembrance, let us honor Ron's legacy of love, hard work, and family devotion. Online expressions of sympathy may be recorded at: bensingfuneralhome.net. Your memories and heartfelt tributes will keep his spirit alive in the hearts of all who knew him.
