Robert F. Phillips, Jr, of Bushkill Twp., passed away peacefully at his residence on Saturday, September 26, 2026. He was a proud father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

Born on May 30, 1947, in Fountain Hill, Robert was the son of the late Robert F., Sr. and Thelma (Funk) Phillips.

Robert was a proud graduate of Liberty High School, Class of 1965. After graduating, he served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era and was Honorably Discharged in 1968. Robert dedicated a significant portion of his life to his work at Bethlehem Steel, where he was a skilled heavy machine operator in the Rolling Mills. He took great pride in his craft and cherished the camaraderie he shared with his brother, Frank, and numerous family members, often recalling the joy of working together.

Robert had an unmistakable passion for classic Chevy cars, particularly the iconic models of '55, '56, and '57. His love for these cherished vehicles was evident, as he owned a few throughout his lifetime. In addition to his love for cars, Robert relished the great outdoors. He spent many memorable summers fishing in Canada and enjoyed a good round of golf during his younger years.

After retiring from Bethlehem Steel, Robert found joy in working at an arboretum for a few years, where he nurtured his love for nature. He and Frank often reminisced about their days at the steel mill, attending car shows to share their admiration for automotive treasures.

Robert is survived by his daughter, Kelly Bechtel and her husband Jason of Bethlehem; grandchildren Haylee Hartranft of South Carolina, Andrew Hartranft of Bethlehem; brother, Frank Phillips of Bethlehem as well as nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
