Naomi R. (Ace) Altemose, 87, of Saylorsburg, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at her residence. She was the beloved wife of the late William H. Altemose, with whom she shared 62 years of marriage before his passing on May 4, 2022.
Born on May 29, 1938, in Wind Gap, Naomi was the daughter of the late Raymond and Stella (Strunk) Ace.
Naomi was a 1957 graduate of Pen Argyl High School and devoted much of her life to caring for others. She worked for various blouse mills in the area, the Pen Argyl Toy Factory, and later served as a personal caretaker for elderly residents in the community. Above all, Naomi was a devoted homemaker who cherished her family.
A faithful member of Hope United Church of Christ in Wind Gap, Naomi was actively involved in the life of her church. She served as a Sunday school teacher and was a past member of "My Brother's Keeper," a volunteer group that made sleeping bags for the homeless. She was also a former den mother, Brownie and Girl Scout leader.
Naomi will be lovingly remembered by her granddaughter, Brittany Walters and her husband, Nicholas, of Bangor; her grandson, Michael Schramm and his wife, Tiffany, of Newfoundland, PA; her four great-grandchildren, Peyton and Dominic Walters, and Darrell and Berlin Schramm; brother, Donald Ace of Moore Twp.; nieces & nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Naomi was preceded in death by her son, William J. Altemose; her daughter, Sharon D. (Altemose) Frey; her brother, Edward Ace; her sisters, Arlene Davis, Dorothy LaBar, and Irma Dietz.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at Hope United Church of Christ - 701 Cherry St, Wind Gap, PA 18091. Online expressions of sympathy may be recorded at bensingfuneralhome.net. Arrangements and cremation care are under the direction of the GEORGE G. BENSING FUNERAL HOME, INC. - Morrestown/Bath.
