Lonny A. Ross, 72, of Plainfield Twp., passed away peacefully while surrounded by his loving family on Monday, September 22, 2025 at his residence. He was the beloved husband of Sherry Ross (Heitzman) to whom he was married to for 27 years. Born in East Stroudsburg, Lonny was a son of Elsie "Dot" Savitz (Ross) of Bangor and the late Elwood Savitz.
In his younger years, Lonny worked as a farmer, proudly contributing to family farms including Sunny Hillside Farms and Twin Gap Farms, and was an active member of the Future Farmers of America (FFA). He later built a long career in the trucking industry, beginning with Grand Central Sanitation (Waste Management) in Pen Argyl and concluding with Chrin Hauling
Lonny was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mt. Bethel, where he faithfully served as an acolyte and lifted his voice joyfully in the choir.
Lonny also answered the call to serve his country, spending ten years stateside with the National Guard during the Vietnam Era-a reflection of his strong sense of duty and service.
Outside of work and service, Lonny embraced life's simple joys. He loved the peace of hunting and fishing, the thrill of NASCAR-cheering especially for Jeff Gordon and Chase Elliott-and was a loyal San Francisco 49ers fan. He admired the skill of Tiger Woods on the golf course, enjoyed water skiing, and found comfort in the quiet beauty of birdwatching and tending to his flowers.
At home, Lonny's heart belonged to his dogs, Harley and Frankie Valli, whose companionship brought him immeasurable happiness.
In addition to his wife, he will be lovingly remembered by his son: Ernest Hase, III, of Bangor; grandson: Ethan Michael Hase and additional grandchildren; 2 - great-grandchildren; sister: Roxanne "Rick" Petrilak (Frank) of Bangor, and brother: Skip Savitz (Kim) of Pen Argyl.
