Leonard S. Contessa, 75, of Bethlehem, formerly of Bethpage, NY, passed away peacefully while surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at his residence. He was the beloved husband of Diane Contessa (Letizia) to whom he was married to for 48 years. Born in Jamaica, NY, Leonard was a son of the late Bernard and Helen Contessa (Finck).

Lenny was a graduate of Hofstra University, where he earned his bachelor's degree and laid the foundation for a successful professional career. As a young man, he served as an altar boy at Church of St.Patrick - an experience that helped shape the values he carried throughout his life. He built a distinguished career in information technology, serving as an IT Manager for Olympus America in Center Valley, PA, and previously with Sentry Data Systems, Inc. in Melville, NY.

Away from work, he was an avid sports fan who faithfully followed the New York Rangers and found great enjoyment on the golf course. Golf had been a lifelong passion, dating back to his youth when he worked as a caddy at Bethpage State Park Golf Courses. Above all else, he treasured his family and cherished every opportunity to spend time with those he loved, creating lasting memories that will be remembered for generations.

In addition to his wife, Lenny will be lovingly remembered his children: Elizabeth DeGennaro (Joseph) of West Islip, NY and Eddie Contessa, (Ambria) of Bethlehem ; grandchildren: James, Victoria, Quinn and Joni; sister: Joan Reid (Joseph) Bethpage, NY.

As per Lenny's wishes no formal services will be held. Online expressions of sympathy may be recorded at: bensingfuneralhome.net. Arrangements and cremation care are under the direction of the GEORGE G. BENSING FUNERAL HOME, INC - Moorestown/Bath.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be offered to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place • Memphis, TN 38105
