Kenneth George Hartzell, 93, of Nazareth, passed away peacefully while surrounded by his loving family on Monday, April 28, 2025, at his residence. He was the beloved husband of Barbara D. Hartzell (Knecht) to whom he was married 67 years.
Born in Bath, PA on February 16, 1932, Kenneth was the son of the late Jennings Hartzell and Elsie Hartzell (Huber).
Kenneth proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was stationed at one time in Austria serving as a Military Police officer. He received three medals including the US Army Occupation Medal of Germany, the National Defense Service Medal and the US Army Good Conduct Medal. Kenny enjoyed working in the shipping department for Binney and Smith (now Crayola). He loved his family and many activities including: playing cards, archery, hunting, fishing, tennis and golf. In later years he enjoyed playing pool, jigsaw puzzles, trivia questions and bowling in his league. Kenny had a good sense of humor and will be greatly missed.
Along with his wife Barbara, Kenneth was survived by his children, Sandra Freer (Kevin) of Nazareth, Deborah Hoffner (Abraham) of Wind Gap, Constance Sandt (Phillip) of East Bangor; Grandchildren: Crystal Booterbaugh, Camille Kunkle, Monica Freer, Matthew Hoffner, Rachel Justnes (Timothy), Abigail Hoffner, Kylie Soloman (Bryan), Chelsea Sandt; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sister, Lorraine Ackerman. He was predeceased by his great-grandson Cameron and his brother Ray Hartzell.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, May 5, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the GEORGE G. BENSING FUNERAL HOME INC., 2165 Community Drive, in Bath, Pennsylvania. Friends and Relatives are invited to call on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Plainfield Cemetery in Pen Argyl.
