John E. Savitsky, 77, of Northumberland, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. He was a beloved father, grandfather, and brother.

Born on March 3, 1948, in Scranton, John was the son of the late Edward Savitsky and Sally Ruschak Savitsky.

John graduated with a Bachelor's Degree from Penn State University in Science and continued to pursue his education at Bloomsburg University, where he earned a Master's Degree. His professional life was marked by his service as he devoted himself to caring for disabled adults at the Selinsgrove Center. His courage and compassion began earlier when he served as a medic in the Navy, exemplifying his lifelong commitment to helping others.

John was known for his kind heart, generosity, and laid-back personality, which endeared him to many who had the privilege of knowing him. He had a remarkable ability to bring laughter into the lives of those around him, often sharing his sense of humor through light-hearted jokes that brightened everyone's day. John's life was marked by a deep appreciation for the beauty of the world around him, as well as a keen interest in science, history, and geography. He enjoyed sightseeing historical sites, photography, taking care of his cats, as well as sci-fi movies and documentaries.

John found joy in attending tribute bands with friends, sharing laughter and music that resonated in his soul. He cherished lunch dates with friends, valuing the moments spent in good company, He was also a devout Catholic and member of Saint Monica Parish in Sunbury.

Symbols that forever remind his family of his presence include the steadfast glow of lighthouses, the charm of brass animal figurines, and the bright warmth of poinsettias. John will be remembered by his strength & perseverance, heart for helping, and his faith serving the lord. He would always advise someone to do the right thing and strived to be the best role model to his daughters. His light will continue to live on through those that he has touched along the way.

Survivors: He will be deeply missed by his daughters, Larissa Santana and her husband Jonathan, Sr., of Northumberland, Brandillyn Durbin, of Nazareth; grandchildren, Owen Durbin, Cali Durbin, Celine Santana, Jonathan Santana, Jr., Layah Santana; brother: David Savitsky and his wife, Susan; nieces, Jessica, Jaime; nephew, Phillip, as well as his dear friend Gloria.

Services: A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025, at 11:00am in St. Monica Parish, 109 Market St, Sunbury, PA 17801. Friends and Relatives are invited to offer their condolences to John's family from 10:00am until the time of the Mass. Interment will take place privately at the convenience of the family.
