John J. Burke, Jr., 80, of Bethlehem, passed away peacefully while surrounded by his loving family on Monday, December 15, 2025, at his home. He was the beloved husband of Lorraine (Di Gregoria) Burke, to whom he was married for 56 years.
Born on March 27, 1945, in Brooklyn, New York, John was the son of the late John J. Burke, Sr. and June (Cromwell) Burke.
John proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1962 to 1966. His time in the Marines instilled in him a strong sense of discipline, duty, and perseverance-values that stayed with him throughout his life. He was deeply proud of his service and honored to be a Marine.
John spent his entire working life as a truck driver, a career that suited his independent spirit and strong work ethic. In the late 1970s and early 1980s, he drove for Chemical Leaman Tank Lines. He later worked for Twin County Groceries out of Edison, New Jersey, where he spent ten years. John finished his driving career at ACME Markets, where he proudly worked for fifteen years before retiring in 2012. Throughout his career, he took great pride in his work and was known for his reliability, dedication, and commitment to providing for his family.
In his free time, John enjoyed spending time at local gun clubs and was a member of various shooting leagues. He valued the camaraderie, skill, and discipline the sport provided and enjoyed the friendships he built through these activities.
Along with his wife Lorraine, he will be dearly missed by his children, James Burke of Tobyhanna, Tommy Burke of Nazareth and his girlfriend, Iva Haynes; and granddaughter, Emily Dingle.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the George G. Bensing Funeral Home, 2165 Community Drive, Bath, PA 18014. Friends and relatives are invited to call on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Full Military Honors will take place at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at a later date.
