Sadly we announce the passing of our father and grandfather, James E.M. Cupples. He was 84. James passed away peacefully while surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Muhlenberg Campus in Bethlehem. A resident of East Allen Township, he was the beloved husband of the late Louise A. (Glinsky) Cupples to whom he was married 53 years before her passing in 2021.
Born in Philipsburg, PA, Centre County, James was a son of the late James H. and Bessie M. (Baughman) Cupples. After graduating from Altoona Senior High School in 1960, he enlisted in the United State Navy, proudly and honorably serving our country from 1961 to 1964, which included the Vietnam Era. Following his military service, James returned home and continued his education at Penn State University - Altoona Campus, where he earned an Associate degree in Electronic Technology.
His education paved the way for a very successful and rewarding career as an electronics repair technician with NCR (National Cash Register). He dedicated more than 30 years to his career before retiring.
Beyond his professional life, James was deeply committed to Boy Scouts, serving as a former Scoutmaster of Troop 40 in Kreidersville. Through his dedication to scouting, he achieved its highest honor, attaining the rank of Eagle Scout. James also had a keen interest in family genealogy and was an avid Civil War historian, passions that allowed him to explore and preserve both his family's history and the history of our nation.
James will be dearly missed by his children, Kevin L. Cupples and wife, Jessica, of Moore Township, and Christina M. Bach and companion, Michael Agrippine, of Whitehall; three grandsons, Nicholas, Logan and Alexander; along with nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Louise, he was predeceased by his brother, Leonard Cupples; and his sister, Regina M. Chamberlin.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 3:00 PM in the GEORGE G. BENSING FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2165 Community Drive, Route 946, in the Village of Moorestown - Bath, PA 18014. Friends and Relatives are invited to call on Saturday afternoon from 2:00 PM until the time of the service. Interment will be held privately at Green Mount Cemetery, Bath.
