Hoover L. Counterman Jr., a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Carbon Campus. he was 70 years old. Hoover was loving husband to the late Anita Counterman before her passing in March of last year.
Born on July 17, 1955, in East Stroudsburg, PA, Hoover was the son to the late Hoover L. Counterman, Sr. and Beatrice A. Werner.
Hoover was a hardworking truck driver and a lifelong lover of classic muscle cars, happiest when he was on the open road or under the hood of an engine. He proudly served in the National Guard, a reflection of his strength, loyalty, and unwavering work ethic. Whether he was working on cars or spending time talking with family and friends, Hoover brought dedication and heart to everything he did. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the many miles he traveled.
Hoover was survived by his children, Sherry Costenbader (James), Jason Counterman (Lisa), Elizabeth Davis, Quamir Lindsey (Amber); grandchildren, James Costenbader, Jr., Tiffany Gould, Cheyenne Davis, Gary "Trey" Davis III, Amir Lindsey; great-grandchildren, Skylar Davis, Xander Davis, Colt Gould, Riley Gould; siblings, Beverly Stout (Jun), Linda Carnes (Dean), Dennis Counterman (Karen) as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members. He was predeceased by his son, Eric Fallstick, grandson, Dylan Davis, brother, John Counterman, and step-father, Larry Werner.
A Celebration of Life will be held on a future date to honor Hoover's memory, filled with stories, laughter, and the connection he so cherished with his family and friends. All who knew Hoover will be invited to gather in remembrance and to share their own memories of Hoover over the years. Interment will take place privately at the convenience of the family at Locustwood Memorial Park in Cherry Hill, NJ.
