Girard B. "Pete" Peters, 84, of Wilkes-Barre, formerly of Allentown, quietly passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Riverstreet Manor in Wilkes-Barre.

Born in Whitehall, he was a son of the late Russel H. and Beulah (Snyder) Peters. Pete, as he was affectionately known, was a graduate of Whitehall High School and honorably served in the United States Army during Vietnam.

For more than 30 years, he was a valuable team member of Avis Car Rental at Lehigh Valley International Airport, where he not only was an exceptional maintenance technician but developed a keen sense for customer service.

Content to live a quiet life of solitude, Pete found enjoyment in fishing and the simple pleasure of washing his car. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered by his family and close circle of friends.

Pete is survived by a brother, Lamar Peters and wife, Beverly, of Whitehall; and his loyal friend and caretaker, Nancy Smaltz of Wilkes-Barre, as well as Sandy, Diane, Brenda, and Eileen.

He was preceded in death by his companion of nearly 40 years, Bill, as well as a brother, Marlin Peters.

In honor of Pete, a private graveside service will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the GEORGE G. BENSING FUNERAL HOME, INC., in the Village of Moorestown - Bath. Online expressions of sympathy may be recorded at: bensingfuneralhome.net.
