George Shafer

George E. Shafer, 74, formerly of Bangor, quietly passed on Friday, July 05, 2024, at St. Luke's University Hospital - Bethlehem Campus in Fountain Hill.

Born in Wilson Borough, he was the son of the late Edwin J. and Dorothy (Sandt) Shafer. A 1968 graduate of Bangor Area High School, George was last employed at Wells Fargo where he worked in the loss prevention department. However, his most important and satisfying role was as caregiver to his parents. Unassuming and always pleasant, George embraced his faith and was a very active member of East Bangor United Methodist Community Church where he formerly served as sexton. He was a race enthusiast and an avid NASCAR fan, and in his spare time, he enjoyed the simple pleasures of life which included shopping at Walmart and Dollar Tree.

Survivors: George is survived by his church family and dearest friends, Patty Siegfried and Rev. Dave Goss.

Services: A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at 1:30 P.M. in East Bangor Cemetery, 851 Park Road, East Bangor (Upper Mt. Bethel Township), PA 18013.
