George C. "Bud" Burry, 89, of Forks Township, formerly of Hunterdon County, NJ, passed away peacefully at the Inpatient Hospice of Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown, surrounded by loving family on Thursday, May 25, 2023. He was the husband of Carol L. (Getz) Burry. Bud and Carol would have celebrated 66 years of marriage on July 6th.
Born in Toronto, Canada, he was a son of the late Allen R. and Clarice (Higley) Burry. Bud was a 1951 graduate of North Plainfield High School and later honorably served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was last employed at Hillsborough Board of Education, where he worked in the maintenance department before retiring in 1998. Prior to that, Bud was a machinist and worked in the tool and die department at Reynolds Metals in Avenel, NJ. Throughout the years, Bud enjoyed spending time at the Jersey Shore.
In addition to his loving wife, Carol, he is survived by two sons, Curt Burry and wife, Silke, of Bushkill Township, and Laurence Burry and wife, Joan, of Phillipsburg, NJ; three grandchildren, Nicole Ricker and husband, Josh, of Bushkill Township, Jennifer Klotz and husband, James, of Nazareth, and Chad Burry and wife, Shanea, of Tatamy; seven great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Ava, Jackson, Cove, Ivy, Olivia, and Lyra; and five nieces and a nephew. Bud was predeceased by a brother, Allen Burry; and a nephew, Allen "Junior" Burry.
A service to honor Bud's life will be held privately with his family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the GEORGE G. BENSING FUNERAL HOME, LLC, in the Village of Moorestown – Bath.
