Douglas Murphy

June 28, 1955 — June 11, 2025

Douglas P. Murphy, 69, passed away unexpectedly on Wednessday, June 11, 2025, at his residence in Mechanicsburg.

Born in East Stroudsburg, he was the son of the late Herbert P. Murphy and Ruth A. (Reagle) Frace. Doug was a 1973 graduate of Pen Argyl High School and later attended Northampton Community College. A member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, he retired from ABF Freight in Mechanicsburg, where he currently continued working part-time as a dedicated and valued employee. Known for his exemplary work ethic, Doug also took great pride in serving as a caretaker of a local cemetery. Always willing to give back to the community, for years he promoted the sale of hundreds of raffle tickets for the benefit of local fire companies. Many have unknowingly benefited by Doug's contributions to the care of PA senior citizens. Doug's love for his family will always be remembered with a bond for everyone who called him brother and uncle. His devotion to people who called Doug a friend is evident in the many kind words and compassion shown by the ones he valued for the last 20 years as "Snapper's" family. Doug's kind heartedness was self-evident in the manner in which he lived his life.
