Curtis W. Filchner, 77, passed away peacefully at his home in Palmerton while surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, June 8, 2025. He was the beloved husband of the late Catherine S. (Strohl) Flichner with whom he shared 54 years of marriage before her passing in 2023.
Born in Lower Nazareth Township, Curtis was a son of the late Walter N. and Helen I. (Fritz) Filchner. He was a graduate of Northampton High School, class of 1966. Curtis enjoyed a successful career at Victaulic, which spanned more than 30 years serving in various positions before retiring. A true sportsman at heart, he loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Curtis was also a racing enthusiast and an ardent Philadelphia Eagles fan.
Survivors: He will be dearly missed by his children, Sandee Poudrier and husband, Chris, and Shawn Filchner and wife, Virginia, both of Palmerton; eight grandchildren, Christina and husband, Caleb, Courtnee and husband, Michael, Matthew and wife, Kaitlyn, Curtis, Bridget, Stephanie, Heather, and Krystal; eight great-grandchildren, Elijah, Hunter, Teyla, Logan, Kaylee, Selah, Jude, and Lukas; nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Catherine, he was predeceased by three children, Steven H., Jamie, and Jean Filchner; two brothers, Douglas C. and Gordon Filchner; and an infant sister.
Services: A Private Graveside Service will be held at Franklin Heights Cemetery in Weissport. Arrangements and cremation care have been provided by the GEORGE G.
