With heavy hearts, we announce the unexpected passing of Carl L. "Punk" Hess Jr., who left this world on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at the age of 64. He was the devoted husband of Bonnie L. (Rice) Hess, and were married for 48 1/2 years.
Born on October 22, 1961, in Allentown, Carl was the son of the late Carl L. Hess, Sr. and Shirley (Kresge) Schoch.
Growing up, Carl attended Northampton High School. Then alongside his beloved wife, Bonnie, he took a bold leap of faith in their teenage years to establish their own concrete contracting business. With a passion for his work, Carl earned the nickname "The Pouring King," dedicating countless hours and endless energy to his craft. He took great pride in not just his work but the legacy he was building for his family.
In addition to his work, Carl cherished the simple pleasures in life. He found joy in hunting, fishing, horse racing, and farming, sharing those experiences with family and friends. Carl's green thumb and love for the outdoors brought his family closer together, creating memories that will live on in their hearts forever. Carl was a spirited individual, whose nickname was inspired by his October birthday, landing him squarely in the heart of autumn festivities.
As a proud grandfather, Carl truly relished the time he spent with his grandchildren, attending countless ball games and celebrating their milestones. His gentle spirit and unwavering support instilled a sense of confidence and joy in those who were lucky enough to call him "Pop-pop."
Along with his wife, Bonnie, Carl is survived by his sons, Kyle L. Hess and his companion Leanne Follweiler, Warren L. Hess and wife Kailyn; grandchildren, Kyla, Makenly, Westyn, as well as three brothers. Carl lived a life that touched many and will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Services for Carl will take place privately at the convenience of the family and interment will take place in the future at Emmanuelsville Cemetery.
