Barbara A. Tobias, 83, formerly of Plainfield Township, quietly passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at Northampton Post Acute in Bethlehem Township. She was the beloved wife of the late Vernon P. Tobias, Sr. with whom she shared 53 years of marriage before his passing in 2020.

Born in Pen Argyl, Barbara was a daughter of the late Steward R. and Miriam G. (Locke) Achenbach. A devout Seventh-day Adventist, she formerly attended the Easton Seventh-day Adventist Church as well as the Seventh-day Adventist School in Stroudsburg.

A talented seamstress, Barbara was a proud member of the International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union and dedicated more than 60 years to the garment industry, working at various textile mills throughout her long and rewarding career. She retired in June 2026 due to health concerns. Barbara was most recently employed by Majestic Athletic in Easton, where she was a valued member of the staff for several years and appreciated for her dedication and skill.

Beyond her talents as a seamstress, Barbara was also a skilled gardener who took great pleasure in tending her beautiful flower gardens and enjoying the simple beauty of nature through birdwatching. She found joy in life's simple pleasures and was well known for her talents in the kitchen, where she was an accomplished cook and baker. Above all, Barbara's warmth, creativity, and love of life brought joy to those around her.

She will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her sons, Timothy Tobias and wife, Bonnie, of Plainfield Township, and John Duvall and wife, Bonnie, of Wind Gap; along with nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Vernon, she was predeceased by a son, Vernon P. Tobias, Jr.; a sister, Celia M. Hevener; two brothers, Ronald J. and Carl B. Achenbach; and a niece, Yolanda Scheib.
