Barbara L. Schmoyer, 92, of Bethlehem, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at Moravian Village - Bethlehem. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles B. Schmoyer to whom she was married 61 years before his passing in 2013.
Born on February 22, 1933 in Easton, Barbara was the daughter of the late Guy Cump and Helen Cump (Milbee).
Barbara graduated from Nazareth Area High School in 1951 and further pursued her education by attending Moravian College and graduating from Bethlehem Vocational Technical School as well as fulfilling her passion for nursing at the St. Luke's Hospital of Nursing. Her commitment to her profession led her to a rewarding career at St. Luke's Hospital and later at Gracedale - Northampton County Home, where she touched the lives of countless patients and families until her retirement.
A proud member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nazareth, Barbara was guided by her deep faith and a compassionate spirit. She was known for her kindness, unwavering support for her family, and her genuine love for others
Barbara was a woman of many talents and passions. She found joy in knitting, playing the piano, and sewing, often creating beautiful pieces for those she loved. Her culinary skills were second to none, and family gatherings were frequently filled with the delightful aromas of her cooking and baking. Barbara relished the simple pleasures in life, enjoying classic films, engaging in word puzzles, and challenging her family and friends to spirited Scrabble matches.
As we celebrate Barbara's life, we are reminded of and comforted by the knowledge that she touched innumerable lives with her skillful and compassionate care. She will be sorely missed by all but never forgotten.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Deborah A. Liming, of Wescosville; grandchildren, Michael Liming and his wife Rachel of Jacksonville, FL and Sarah Halpin and her husband, Ryan, of Orefield; great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Hunter, and Beckham.
Services and interment will take place privately at the convenience the family. Interment will take place in the columbariums at St. John's Lutheran Church - Nazareth.
