It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara A. Davenport, a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who peacefully departed this life on January 15, 2026, at the age of 90. She was the beloved wife of the late Harvey Davenport, Jr. of 52 years before his passing in 2012.
Born on December 26, 1935, in Morristown, NJ, Barbara was the daughter to the late Howard and Annbelle (Sanford) Hiler.
She was a proud graduate of the Butler High School Class of 1955, Barbara continued her education at the New York Institute of Dietetics before embarking on a fulfilling career as a Psych Aide at the Allentown State Hospital, where she devoted 18 years of her life to supporting those in need before her retirement in 1998. Her compassion and commitment to helping others were evident in all she did.
A woman of deep faith, Barbara sang in the choir and played the organ at the Northampton Assembly of God Church, sharing her musical talents and uplifting spirit with her community. In her leisure, she found joy in painting, capturing the serene beauty of nature through her artwork, particularly the breathtaking sights of waterfalls, skies, and mountains.
Barbara is survived by her children, Stephen H. Davenport and his wife, Arlene of Levittown, Jonathan H. Davenport and his wife, Dianne of Lititz, Lisa Ann Mateuszow and her husband, Steve of Ephrata, Mark C. Davenport and his wife, Gilma of Whitehall, Eric A. Davenport of Allentown and Shawn G. Davenport, and companion Stacey of West Lawn; seventeen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members. She was predeceased by her sister, Eileen Lecorchick and Diane Richards.
Funeral services to honor and celebrate Barbara's life will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the George G. Bensing Funeral Home, Inc., 2165 Community Drive, Bath, PA 18014. Prior to the service, family and friends are invited to call from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment will follow in the Zion's Stone Church Cemetery, Kreidersville.
Barbara A. Davenport will be deeply missed, and her legacy of love, kindness, and creativity will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. In celebrating her life, we invite all who knew her to gather and share their cherished memories.
