Allen A. Derhammer, 97, of Danielsville, passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at his residence. He was the beloved husband of the late Delores Derhammer (Mann) to whom he was married to for 63 years before her passing in 2017. Born in Allentown, Allen was a son of the late Clyde and Esther Derhammer (Althouse).

He was raised in the faith and was a longtime member of Hope Lutheran Church, having previously belonged to Christ Church at Little Moore UCC before the congregations merged. In earlier years, he was active in church life, including playing on the Little Moore softball team, marking an important chapter in his community involvement.

He honorably served in the United States Army, stationed in Germany during the Korean War - one of a generation defined by duty and quiet sacrifice.

He spent many years working in the beam yards at Bethlehem Steel, where strength, precision, and endurance were part of daily life. He also worked alongside his father with Clyde Derhammer Contracting and later with Dieterly Contracting, carrying forward the values of hard work and reliability that defined him.

In his younger years, he was known to step in as a substitute bowler when a team needed a dependable arm. He enjoyed fishing, small game hunting, and trapping - pursuits that suited his patience and self-sufficiency. On his 15½-acre property, he cultivated two acres of strawberries, tended chestnut trees, and pressed apple cider - finding satisfaction in what the land would yield through steady effort

Music was never far from reach; he enjoyed playing the harmonica and could often be heard adding a tune to family gatherings or quiet evenings at home.

Allen enjoyed attending public auctions, appreciating both the fellowship and the possibility of finding something useful. On one occasion, he went intending to buy a wheelbarrow and came home having purchased the house and wheelbarrow - a story often retold as a reflection of his practicality and readiness to act.

Some of his most cherished time was spent playing cards with his brothers, nephews, and niece, especially poker and pinochle, where competition, storytelling, and laughter went hand in hand.

He will be missed by his children: Cindy Grube (Howard) of
Danielsville, Cheryl Kocher (Barry) of Walnutport, Diane Silfies (Kenneth) of Danielsville, Kevin Dehammer of Allentown and Ronald Derhammer (Chris) of FL; 11 grandchildren; 26 great- grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Allen is predeceased by a daughter-in-law: Tina Derhammer; siblings: Ralph Derhammer, Gladys Heckman, Grace Eckert, Gordon Derhammer, Leon Derhammer, Lorraine Grider, Lester Derhammer, Carl Derhammer and Gloria Swope.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, February 26, 2026, in the GEORGE G.
